tour to the South Valley of Cusco

Cusco South Valley will also let you see Pre-Incan ruins of the Wari culture at Pikillaqta. The Wari controled this key point on the route to Lake Titicaca 500 before the Incas. Come along with us and discover the little known treasures of Cusco South Valley.

The South Valley Tour Cusco will let you discover some of the areas most beautiful ancient constructions. South Valley Cusco is not famous like Machu Picchu, but is well worth your time and effort. Tipon itself will stick in your memory and haunt your dreams. Tipon was a very important place during the time of the Incas. This site is dedicated to the element, water, which is the key ingredient of life. The fountains of Tipon fertilized the rich soil of the terraces so that the Incan royalty and the Andean people could eat well. To this day Tipon feels like a sacred place, and everyone who visits here is surprised by the beauty and tranquility of the site.

During your South Valley Tour Cusco you will visit Andahuaylillas which is one of the towns in the south valley that symbolizes the colonial history of Peru. It was declared to be part of the Cultural Heritage of Peru because of the presence of the Temple of Andahuyalillas. This church actually still has the appearance of a lot of churches during colonial times. There are beautiful, full color frescos and paintings of the Andean canyons and valleys. This church, dedicated to St. Peter the Apostle, is one of the prettiest in all South America.  On the arch above the entryway you can read the inscription: “I baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit “ in Latin, Spanish, Quechua, Aymara, and Puquina.

The climb to the SUN GATE is always available and free. This is a nice place with a view of Machu Picchu. If you prefer HUAYNA PICCHU with its dramatic views, this must be booked in advance and costs 25 dollars per person. The climb takes 45 minutes and is moderately difficult. The other option is the MACHU PICCHU MOUNTAIN, 1.5 hours steep climb, very demanding and $ 20 per person. This is probably the most spectacular of all views, but all three options are very nice and will allow you to make very good photos.

As the weather is very cold and damp, your clothes, even wet, will not dry at night. Therefore bring enough spare clothes.
